Is it me or does it have some kind of US market bigger bumper? Did they sell these here?

In all of the universes that Lotus tried unsuccessfully to sell cars, I really do not recall that universe in North America, Really?!? What 1978 is my guess based on the door handles but no 5 mph bu mpers means pre ‘73....

Well the clean one I posted has no bumpers but the one here in SF appears to have a rotting foam filled, larger bumper. Yeah it looks like they added on a few inches, so it must be a US car? Oh and it is left hand drive.

The Eclat was sold in the U.S. in miniscule numbers in the 70s, badged as the Lotus Sprint . The Elite shooting brake variant wasn’t sold here (to the best of my knowledge), and neither was the Excel that replaced both. All featured the Lotus slant-four first seen in the Jensen-Healey, and later in the Esprit.

Sold in tiny numbers in N.A. as the Lotus Sprint, same slant-four as the Jensen-Healey and the Esprit.

I think I like the one by the dumpster more than it in mint condition.
I don’t know why. Attraction to clunkers I guess.

AAh ok. Well SF is good for cars, usually if they sold something in small numbers I see them here eventually and odd British cars do pop up, quite a few Morgan’s etc.. . French cars too, there are a few DS and 505s , and pretty strong French car club here and a couple mechanics who can even work on DS hydropneumatic suspension.
